Built on your actual ranking data

Content decay is one of the most overlooked problems in SEO. A page that ranked well last year slowly slips from position 4 to position 11, and nobody notices until traffic is already 40% lower. By then, competitors have taken the rankings.

Most tools show total traffic trends. This one shows you which specific pages and keywords are losing ground, so you know exactly where to focus your content update effort.

How to prioritise decay fixes

Start with critical pages — 50%+ drop. These are the highest-ROI fixes: the pages already have history, backlinks, and prior rankings. Recovery investment is far lower than building new pages. After critical, move to significant in order of prior click volume.

What to do when you find a decaying page

Expand the page to see top declining queries. Search those in incognito. Has intent changed? Are competitors ranking with a different format? Has your content become outdated? Update the content to match what is currently ranking.

FAQ

What is content decay in SEO?

Content decay is the gradual loss of organic traffic to pages that once performed well. Happens when content becomes outdated, competitors improve, or search intent shifts. Most sites have 10–20% of pages in active decay at any time.

Why 90-day windows instead of monthly?

90-day windows smooth out seasonal noise and week-to-week volatility. Monthly comparisons often flag seasonal dips as decay. 90-day periods give a more stable signal.

What does the noise filter do?

Pages with fewer than 50 prior-period clicks are excluded. These have too little traffic for percentage-based comparison to be meaningful.

How do I fix a decaying page?

Expand the page to see its top declining queries. Search those queries and compare your page to current results. Common fixes: update statistics, add new sections covering intent gaps, improve the title and introduction.

Is my GSC data stored?

No. Fetched in real-time, processed on the server, returned to your browser. Nothing written to a database. Google token expires after one hour.
